The B.Sc. in Accident and Emergency Care Technology is a 3 to 4-year undergraduate program that prepares students to respond swiftly and efficiently to medical emergencies and trauma cases. This course focuses on training students to provide immediate care to patients in critical situations such as accidents, cardiac arrests, strokes, burns, and other emergencies before and during their transfer to hospitals.
The curriculum includes subjects like human anatomy and physiology, emergency medicine, trauma care, pharmacology, first aid, disaster management, and critical care procedures. Students also gain practical experience in emergency departments, ambulances, and trauma units, where they learn to assess patients, perform life-saving interventions, use emergency equipment like defibrillators and ventilators, and assist emergency physicians.
Graduates can work as emergency care technologists, trauma care assistants, or paramedic officers in hospitals, emergency departments, ambulatory services, and disaster response teams. They play a crucial role in stabilizing patients, minimizing injury impact, and ensuring timely medical attention during life-threatening situations.
