B.Sc. Cardiac Technology

B.Sc. Cardiac Technology

The B.Sc. in Cardiac Technology is a 3 to 4-year undergraduate program that trains students to assist in diagnosing and treating heart-related conditions using advanced medical technology. The course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and the functioning of diagnostic tools used in cardiology. It focuses on the operation and maintenance of equipment like ECG machines, echocardiograms, stress test systems, and cardiac catheterization labs (cath labs).

The curriculum includes core subjects such as human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, cardiovascular pathology, electrocardiography, cardiac pharmacology, and critical care. Students also receive practical training in hospitals and cardiac care centers, where they assist cardiologists during procedures such as angiography, pacemaker implantation, and cardiac monitoring in ICUs.

Graduates of this program can work as cardiac technologists, ECG technicians, or cath lab technologists in hospitals, specialty heart centers, diagnostic labs, and healthcare device companies. With the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, skilled cardiac technologists are in high demand and play a crucial role in supporting cardiologists in both diagnosis and patient care.
